Rate Limits

Overview

Grain rate limits requests with a token bucket algorithm per auth token.
Requests beyond the bucket's current balance return a 429 Too Many Requests.

Limits
Bucket capacity	30 requests
Refill rate	2 req/sec

In Practice
Sustained traffic	120 req/min
Burst from full bucket	30 requests
Time to refill empty bucket	15 seconds

NOTE: Rate limits for sunsetting versions are gradually reduced. See Versions.

Headers

Grain also returns the following headers with every request:

Header
x-ratelimit-limit	Bucket capacity.
x-ratelimit-remaining	Tokens remaining in the bucket.
Retry-After *only on 429	Number of seconds you must wait before the bucket has a token available again.
